Fashion inspired interiors...springtime yellow

We have spent some time browsing through the fashions that have come off the runway for the spring 2011 fashion shows of late and it inspired me to browse through my magazines and image library for some interiors that could be inspired by these coutures. We have started off this segment with this beautiful, bright, springtime yellow and we will do some more posts later for some other beautiful colours we found.

Chic celadon

According to the latest Elle Decoration, Celadon is this month's "in colour". Celadon is often used to describe a particular pale jade green glaze as used on porcelain and ceramic tiles. Celadon originated in the Far East, in ancient China, primarily in Zhejiang Province, hundreds of years ago. Ancient Korea celadon in particular was filled with images and symbolism such as peony blossoms, lotus flowers and phoenix's.
Have a look at some of the below images that use the Celadon green in their interiors or products. I think they look great and it is definitely a colour to use!

How To Lime Wash Or Paint Timber Floors

To get a similar look to some of the beautiful timber floors below, visit your ship chandler (a specialist retailer for ship equipment) and ask about using marine paints, suitable primers and sealers.
Marine paint is a more expensive option, this will leave you with a very durable surface that will take a lot of wear and tear and will last for years.

Lime washing floorboards is another great option- our personal favourite!! What you want to achieve is a translucent coating that soften the appearance of the bear timber boards. Once again get some professional advice before you do anything. The floorboards will need to be cleaned or sanded, depending on their condition, primed and then given several coats of lime wash- the effect is beautiful!!!
